
Prehistoric Era (प्रागैतिहासिक युग)
Archaeological evidence shows. UP had human activity from 85,000 years ago in the Stone Age. पुरापाषाण काल में शिकारी समुदाय रहते थे, while Mesolithic period (10,000 BCE) saw early farming near Ganga-Yamuna doab. By 6,000 BYE, villages like Lahuradewa emerged with advanced agriculture.

Vedic & Epic Age वैदिक और महाकाव्य काल
Around 4,000 years ago, Aryans arrived, laying Vedic culture’s foundation. Ramayana’s Kosala kingdom with Ayodhya as capital and Mahabharata’s Kurukshetra battles are linked to this region. Mathura was part of Surasena, birthplace of Krishna legends.

Mahajanapada Period (महाजनपद काल)In 6th century BCE, 7 of 16 Mahajanapadas were in UP: Kosala, Kuru, Panchala, Vatsa, etc. Buddha gave his first sermon at Sarnath (Varanasi), sparking Buddhism; Jain Tirthankars also flourished here. Magadha’s early roots trace to this area.

Maurya to Gupta Empires (मौर्य से गुप्त साम्राज्य)
Mauryas (322-185 BCE) under Ashoka promoted Buddhism with stupas at Sanchi-like sites. Gupta Empire (320-550 CE) was the Golden Age of Hindu art, science—Prayagraj and Kannauj shone. Harshavardhana (606-647 CE) ruled from Kannauj, extending to Bengal
